A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Lisa Salcini at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. The group has two lines of research. One focused on identifying and characterizing novel genes and mechanisms involved in epigenetics; the other on endocytosis.
Project description
The project is a “Program of Excellence grant”, funded by The University of Copenhagen. The project focuses on the biological and functional characterization of a newly identified family of enzymes involved in chromatin remodeling. The genetic model system C. elegans will be used to analyze role of these chromatin modifiers in vivo. In particular, we are interested in understanding histone methylation dynamics and its role in embryonic and postembryonic development.
Qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist, with a PhD in Life Sciences. Strong experience in molecular, cellular biology and/or protein biochemistry is essential. Previous experience in C. elegans genetics is desirable, but not essential.
Place of employment and work
The employment is at BRIC, The University of Copenhagen. BRIC is located close to the center of Copenhagen, in the new Copenhagen Biocenter. BRIC has excellent research facilities in modern laboratories and offers excellent working conditions with exciting possibilities in a young, dynamic and international research environment.

Post-Doctoral Fellow
Molecular Imaging in Breast Cancer Research using Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopic and Optical Imaging.
Period: up to 5 years
Starting date: Immediately
Place of work: Baltimore, Maryland, USA, and partially in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Project description
A joint research project at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the FOM-AMOLF is set up to investigate hypoxia-driven signaling pathways in breast cancer. A key component of this research is the application of novel multimodal molecular imaging techniques that combine in vivo magnetic resonance spectroscopic and optical imaging with ex vivo imaging mass spectrometric approaches.
Job description
The position will investigate hypoxia-driven signaling pathways in breast cancer cell cultures and tumor xenograft models. It will employ different molecular imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging, optical imaging, and mass spectrometric imaging. The overall goal of this multidisciplinary project is the identification and 3D localization of novel hypoxia-driven signaling pathways in the breast tumor microenvironment. The data will be integrated within a collaborative project with the FOM-AMOLF in the laboratory of Professor Ron M. A. Heeren. The work will be carried out in a multidisciplinary team of biochemists, molecular biologists, tumor biologists, chemists, physicists, and informaticians. Progress monitoring will be carried out frequently using among others written status reports by the successful candidate.
