Australia - 2008 Victoria University Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

The Victoria University Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Scheme is a new initiative to support outstanding early career researchers seeking to commence an academic/research career. The Scheme provides appointments of 3 years duration (four year appointment may be available with the addition of a teaching component by mutual agreement and subject to the availability of
funding). Up to 10 Research Fellowships will be supported in 2008 under this Scheme at Academic Level A or B including a start-up grant of $15,000.

This will be a highly competitive scheme, and applicants are expected to have an outstanding track record relative to opportunity.
The scheme focuses on outstanding early career researchers who would normally be within 5 years of completing their Doctoral qualification.

Australia - THE-ICE 2007 Scholarships for Semester 2 in Tourism and Hospitality for Masters, Bachelor and Diploma Level Studies

The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE) is an Australian government initiative to encourage excellence in tourism and hospitality education. We offer scholarships to international students who wish to study tourism and hospitality in Australia at THE-ICE member institutions. Our member’s programs are independently assessed by an international panel to meet THE-ICE Standards of Excellence. These standards have been especially developed to endorse high quality tourism and hospitality programs.

Scholarships are offered for Masters, Bachelor and Diploma level studies commencing in Semester 2, 2007. They comprise a grant of AUD$10,000 per year, and apply to over 60 quality-endorsed programs which can be undertaken at THE-ICE member institutions in Australia.

USA - Community College Summit Initiative Program

Program Overview
The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State is pleased to announce the Community College Summit Initiative Program. This new international educational exchange program enables individuals from Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey and South Africa to study at a community college in the United States to develop professional skills. Eligible fields are Business Management and Administration; Tourism and Hospitality Management; Health Professions, including Nursing; Media; Information Technology; Security and Public Safety; and Engineering Science.

Eligibility
To apply to the program, candidates must:

  • Have completed a secondary school education;
  • Have relevant work experience in the field in which they are applying;
  • Have English language skills that provide a basis for enrolling in academic coursework following approximately 6 months of intensive English language study in the U.S.;
  • Submit a complete application; and
  • Minimum Institutional TOEFL score 500 or TOEIC score 650 (only scores less than 2 years old are valid).
