Netherlands - Utrecht University PhD Researcher in Social Science at Faculty of Social and Behavioura
As PhD-candidate you are part of the joint programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Utrecht University/Faculty of Social Sciences/Cultural Anthropology. This programme is known as the IS-academy.
The subject of research is “Poverty reduction and good governance”. Within the wide scope of research on this subject is chosen for research on two themes: “the political dimension of poverty reduction and drivers of change” with a focus on two core questions:
- What are the political dimensions of poverty reduction and what factors determine shifts from exclusion to inclusion of poverty concerns in political arenas and policy agendas?
- What are the political dimensions of so-called “failing states”, particularly in relation to intrastate social violence and political conflict?
The project is situated within the research programme “Political conflict, cultural trauma and social reconciliation” (CTR) which is part of the Research Centre CERES. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be involved in the guiding and supervision of the research projects.
