Carnegie Endowment for International Peace

Purpose
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, one of the world’s leading think tanks specializing in international affairs, conducts programs of research, discussion, publication, and education in international relations and U.S. foreign policy. The Junior Fellows Program at Carnegie Endowment is designed to provide a substantive work experience for students who have a serious career interest in the area of international affairs. 8-10 students will be hired to work at the Carnegie Endowment on a full-time basis for a period of one year. Fellows provide research assistance to associates working on the Endowment’s research projects such as nonproliferation, democracy building, trade and environment, Chinese political and economic transitions, international economics reform, Russian and Eurasian studies, and US leadership.
Qualifications
Applicants must be graduating college seniors or have graduated within the past academic year and have not yet begun graduate studies. Students must be nominated by their university and should have extensive coursework in international affairs, political science, economics, history, or Russian studies.

Chevening is the UK government’s flagship scholarship scheme, aimed at future leaders, high achievers, opinion formers and decision-makers. The programme funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and administered by the British Council, supports over 2,300 international students annually to study in the UK.
Many talented graduates and young professional Indonesians have been propelled along the path to success through the British Chevening Awards, which has seen over 1,000 scholarships awarded to Indonesians since the scheme began in 1984.
This year up to 35 full scholarships are offered for one year Master degrees.

- Courses at various universities and professional institutions in the UK including courses in media, finance, economics, politics, law, management, engineering, gender, environment, democracy etc.
- A very competitive scheme. Only the best applicants are invited for further test and interview.
- Employees, employee’s relatives (or former employees who have left employment less than two years before) of the FCO (Foreign Commonwealth Office), including FCO posts, the British Council and the sponsor will not be eligible to apply for these awards.

The Center for Asian Democracy at the University of Louisville invites applications for its new Visiting Fellows program for the 2008-2009 academic year. Fellows are expected to be in residence with the Center from 1 August 1, 2008 through 31 May 2009, and will receive a stipend of US$40,000.
Applicants need to demonstrate their competency in Asian studies with a solid record of publications. The fellowship will be ideal for recent PhDs whose work is related to democratization in Asia, and senior scholars on sabbatical leave. Some teaching experience is a plus. Fellows have the option to teach one course per year in their area of expertise and present their research in a public forum.
