Application for Brunei and Malaysia will be open in March 2008 after the respective results for the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) are released.
The Singapore Scholarship was announced by then Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Goh Chok Tong, at the 6th ASEAN Summit in December 1998. The objective of the Singapore Scholarship at that time was to help alleviate the problem of educating young people in the ASEAN countries due to the regional economic crisis.
The Singapore Government awards the Scholarship to Government-endorsed students from the other member countries of ASEAN. Each scholarship is for a full-time undergraduate degree course at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS) or the Singapore Management University (SMU). All disciplines except Architecture, Law, Biomedical Sciences/Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dentistry and Medicine are open for application. The duration of each scholarship is for three or four years, depending on the discipline.
The award is based on merit and places will be allocated by open competition. If necessary, a one-year bridging or foundation programme, in addition to the undergraduate studies, will be provided.

Citizens of ASEAN member countries (except Singapore) are eligible to apply for the Singapore Scholarship.

The ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarships are offered by the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) for students from the Association of South East Asian Nations, or ASEAN (except Singapore). ASEAN comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The scholarship is tenable for an undergraduate degree programme on a full-time basis at NTU.
Eligibility Criteria
All nationals (citizens and permanent residents) of a member country of ASEAN (except Singapore) are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Candidates offering international qualifications should have outstanding academic results and extra-curricular activities.

The Asia Research Institute of NUS invites applications from ASEAN citizens enrolled for a fulltime advanced degree at a university in an ASEAN country (except Singapore) for consideration as ASEAN Research Scholars. These fellowships are offered to current graduate students working in the Humanities and Social Sciences on Southeast Asian topics, and will allow the recipients to be based at NUS for an ‘in residence fellowship’ for a period of three months. The aim of the fellowship is to enable scholars to make full use of the wide range of resources held in the libraries of NUS and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies. Scholars will be expected to commence on 1 May 2008, and to make a presentation on their work at the Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies at the end of July 2008.
Successful candidates can expect the following benefits:
- A monthly allowance of SGD$1,750 (inclusive of housing allowance).
- A one time round trip travel subsidy by the most economical and direct route on a reimbursement basis upon being accepted for the fellowship.
- Access to library and computer resources on campus.
Applicants are invited to e-mail/facsimile/mail their curriculum vitae, a 2-page outline of their research proposal in English (this may be accompanied by a longer statement in a Southeast Asian language) to the address below by 15 November 2007.

Nanyang Technological University ASEAN Graduate Scholarsips (ASGS) by Coursework for Admission in August 2007 (Academic Year 2007 - 2008)
Nanyang Technological University will be awarding a number of ASEAN Graduate Scholarships [hereafter, ASGS] in academic year 2007-2008 to finance outstanding candidates who are nationals (citizens or permanent residents) of member countries of ASEAN*(except Singapore) to pursue a designated full-time Masters degree programme by coursework at the University.
Each scholarship is tenable for 4 Trimesters (approximately 16 months) for the MBA programme, and 1 year for other programmes. Successful candidates are expected to complete their studies within the tenable period.
Each scholarship shall cover the following :
- A monthly stipend of S$1,350.00;
- A one-time book allowance of S$500.00;
- Tuition fees and all compulsory miscellaneous fees, health insurance, and other approved fees, allowances and expenses;
- Cost of one overseas Business Study Mission undertaken within the tenable period of the scholarship;
- Cost of travel from home country to Singapore on award of the scholarship; and
- Cost of travel from Singapore to home country on successful completion of the course of study within the tenable period of the scholarship.
There is no bond attached to the scholarship and no deferment of scholarship awarded will be allowed. Awards that are not taken up will be given to other qualified candidates.

Welcome to the Singapore Scholarship for ASEAN Countries under the Singapore Cooperation Programme.
What is Offered
- The Singapore Scholarship is tenable for the minimum period required to obtain the respective degrees at Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore or Singapore Management University. It covers full tuition fees and a living allowance of S$4,300 (covering meals, transport, textbooks and course materials during schoool semester) per academic year. In addition, a separate full accommodation allowance based on the room rates at each university or designated hostel (for SMU which does not have on-campus accommodation) will be provided during school semester.
- One return economy class air ticket is provided for the Scholar’s passage from his/her home country to Singapore for the duration of studies determined by the Singapore Government. No additional assistance will be provided for other travel expenses.
- A recipient of the Scholarship may not concurrently hold any other Scholarship, Fellowship, Grant or Award without the prior approval of the Singapore Government.
- There is no bond imposed on the Scholarship by the Singapore Government. The Scholars are expected to return home to contribute to the development of their countries upon graduation.
- The Singapore Government reserves the right to terminate the Scholarship if the Scholar’s academic progress is unsatisfactory or his conduct is in violation of the university’s rules and regulations.
