Norway – 2007/2008 Norwegian Government Scholarship Pool
The Norwegian Government, through the International Scholarship Section (IS) of The Research Council of Norway, offers a pool of scholarships for advanced students and young researchers for the academic year 2007/2008.
The purpose of the government scholarships is to promote contact and mobility between students and researchers at institutions of higher education and research. The scholarships are open to all areas of academic studies and research, including applied and performing arts and are valid at accredited Norwegian universities, research institutes, university colleges and other institutions at university level. Nationals of the following countries, with which Norway has reciprocal scholarship agreements, may apply: Austria, Italy, Russia, Belgium, Israel, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Ireland, Spain, Czech Republic, Japan, Switzerland, Finland, Mexico, Turkey, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, Hungary, Portugal, Iceland, Romania.
The scholarships are intended to support a temporary stay in Norway of up to one academic year (10 months). Foreign citizens who study/intend to study for a Master’s degree (first or second year/part of) in Norway, are not eligible. Foreign citizens who have been living and/or studying in Norway for a long period of time are not given priority under the scheme. Finally, foreign citizens who reside in Norway on a permanent basis are excluded from this scheme.
China, Egypt and India
In addition to the countries listed above, the Norwegian Government offers annual quotas of scholarships for up to one academic year to nationals of China, Egypt and India. Click here to read more about these scholarships.
