Norway – 2007/2008 Norwegian Government Scholarship Pool
The Norwegian Government, through the International Scholarship Section (IS) of The Research Council of Norway, offers a pool of scholarships for advanced students and young researchers for the academic year 2007/2008.
The purpose of the government scholarships is to promote contact and mobility between students and researchers at institutions of higher education and research. The scholarships are open to all areas of academic studies and research, including applied and performing arts and are valid at accredited Norwegian universities, research institutes, university colleges and other institutions at university level. Nationals of the following countries, with which Norway has reciprocal scholarship agreements, may apply: Austria, Italy, Russia, Belgium, Israel, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Ireland, Spain, Czech Republic, Japan, Switzerland, Finland, Mexico, Turkey, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, Hungary, Portugal, Iceland, Romania.
The scholarships are intended to support a temporary stay in Norway of up to one academic year (10 months). Foreign citizens who study/intend to study for a Master’s degree (first or second year/part of) in Norway, are not eligible. Foreign citizens who have been living and/or studying in Norway for a long period of time are not given priority under the scheme. Finally, foreign citizens who reside in Norway on a permanent basis are excluded from this scheme.
China, Egypt and India
In addition to the countries listed above, the Norwegian Government offers annual quotas of scholarships for up to one academic year to nationals of China, Egypt and India. Click here to read more about these scholarships.

I am form one of the most remote district of Nepal. I have passed BSc in Agriculture form India in 1997 with 79.6% marks. I am working in different NGO/INGO as an Agriculture project Officer form 1 April 1998 to date. I belong to such part of the country where very few lucky and hard working people get higher education opportunity. I got success to do BSc agriculture only due to the great help of Government of India. I received scholarship to complete my study in India otherwise, I were never reached to this mouse now to communicate with you.
I worked in most remote areas with most vulnerable communities in these 9 years job period of my life. Difficulties and problems accompanied me all over the life till this time. After passing 9 years to contribute livelihood enhancement of ultra-poor communities now I am feeling that my field level practical experience is significant but educational qualification is limitation for future career. I have future plan to develop effective approaches and methods to contribute Poor’s livelihood. Perhaps, this is possible only if I acquire sufficient academic skill and knowledge in the field of community development through sustainable agriculture practices.
Therefore, I am requesting you through this note to provide me an opportunity to study MSc organic agriculture/sustainable agriculture or development studies so that I can develop myself as a professional form rural area of Nepal and always will remain to helping such areas in which circumstances I were grown.
