NUFFIELD DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL MEDICINE
Grade 8: Salary £33,779 - £40,335 with a discretionary range up to £44,074 p.a.
The University of Oxford’s Centre for Tropical Medicine supports three permanently staffed overseas research units in Thailand, Kenya and Viet Nam. The Viet Nam unit has secured a substantial award from the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) to establish the South East Asia Influenza Clinical Research Network (SEAICRN) to monitor and research emerging infectious diseases, in particular influenza.
This post will be responsible for establishing and developing the Virology programme within the SEAICRN in Indonesia with a particular responsibility for research conducted at the Eijkman Institute’s newly built BSL-3 laboratory in Jakarta. We are looking for a research scientist who brings with them a broad range of experience in classical and molecular virology and experience of work within a BSL-3 laboratory. You will have a Ph.D. in Clinical Microbiology/ Virology, and have a good publication record. It is essential that you have experience of working in, or collaborating with colleagues working in, the tropics and developing links with international groups.
