The International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE) encourages college graduate students to study and/or to engage in research in the field of Offshore Mechanics. For this purpose, each year the ISOPE will provide Offshore Mechanics Scholarships for Outstanding Students dependent upon available funds.
History
Offshore Mechanics Scholarship for Outstanding Students was established on August 12, 1989 by Offshore Mechanics and Polar Engineering Council (OMPEC), a non-profit organization, approved by Internal Revenue Services under Code 501(c)(3) from the US Federal government agency. Upon the establishment of ISOPE, the scholarship was cosponsored by both OMPEC and ISOPE until 1994. Upon the OMPEC merger with ISOPE in 1995, the scholarship has been administered by ISOPE.
