Netherlands – 2007 The Netherlands Fellowship Programme at TU/e
Introduction
The Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) is financed by the Dutch Ministry for Foreign Affairs under its Development Cooperation budget. The NFP target group candidates are mid-career professionals who are nominated by their employers. Priority is given to female candidates and to candidates coming from sub-Saharan Africa.
Eligible students:
- The NFP target group consists of mid-career professionals who are employed by an organization other than a large industrial, commercial and/or multinational firm. Since the training must help the organization to develop, the applicants must be nominated by their employers.
- Applicants must also be nationals of one of the 57 selected countries (see ‘Eligible countries’).
- Applicants must declare that they will return to their home country immediately after they complete the master program.
- Applicants must have gained admission to a TU/e master course, which is on the NFP course list and have sufficient mastery of the English language.

- Innovation Management
- Mechanical Engineering

- Sustainable Energy Technology
- Human Technology Interaction
- Technology and Policy
Eligible countries
To be eligible for an NFP fellowship, an applicant must be a national of one of the following countries:
Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Autonomous Palestinian Territories, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cape Verde, China*, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Georgia, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea-Bissau, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kenya, Macedonia, Mali, Moldova, Mongolia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Costs covered: Full-cost scholarship (including international travel, monthly subsistence allowance, tuition fee, books and health insurance.)
Duration of scholarship: Scholarships for the duration of the course, with a maximum of two years.
Application and selection procedure for Master’s programs
- A candidate first has to gain admission to an eligible TU/e master program.
- Then candidates apply for an NFP fellowship through the Netherlands embassy or consulate in their own country by completing an NFP Application Form and submitting it together with all the required documents and information to the embassy or consulate. These forms can be obtained from the embassy or consulate or can be downloaded at www.nuffic.nl/nfp).
- The Embassy checks whether the candidate meets all criteria and sends the forms to the Nuffic (Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education).
- The Nuffic decides how many fellowships will be available for each program and sends TU/e the list of NFP candidates.
- TU/e then selects the candidates who will receive fellowships and informs candidates of its decision through the Dutch Embassy in their home country.
Application deadlines
- 1 February-1 March 2007 in home country (see http://www.nuffic.nl/nfp/pdf/nfp_2006_masters_deadlines_HMA.pdf for list of deadlines per country)
- The selection of candidates who have applied for an NFP fellowship will be in May 2007. The Dutch providers will inform all candidates of their decisions towards the end of May 2007.
