PhD Fellowships in Bio-molecular Sciences and Mass Spectrometry
Denmark – PhD Fellowships in Bio-molecular Sciences and Mass Spectrometry at University of Southern Denmark
Two PhD fellowships: The role of histone modifications in epigenetic regulation
The two PhD fellows will join our efforts to elucidate the mechanisms of protein regulation by detailed analysis of transient post-translational modifications by mass spectrometry. Specifically we aim to gain a detailed understanding of the role of coexisting post-translational modifications in proteins. The PhD fellows will develop quantitative mass spectrometry based techniques to study histone proteins and other types of chromatin binding proteins and their post-translational modifications in the context of stem cell and cancer cell biology.
The fellowships are part of the activities of the Centre for Epigenetics financed by the Danish National Research Foundation.
The qualified applicants hold a Master’s degree and have a strong background in protein biochemistry and/or cell biology and an interest in analytical biochemistry, mass spectrometry and bioinformatics. The PhD fellow will interact with collaborators at other institutions and is expected to be able to communicate fluently in spoken and written English.
Place of work: Protein Research Group (Prof. Ole N. Jensen), Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, Denmark. The Protein Research Group offers a strong, international and competitive research environment within the fields of biochemistry, bio-molecular mass spectrometry and proteomics.
For further details please contact Professor Ole Nørregaard Jensen, PhD, jenseno@bmb.sdu.dk.
