The Laboratory of Protein Chemistry, Proteomics and Signal Transduction (Dpt. of Biomedical Sciences) is currently looking for a POSTDOC IN PROTEOMICS
Current research:
The Proteomics unit in the Laboratory of Protein Chemistry, Proteomics and Signal Transduction currently develops and applies chromatography-based techniques for mass spectrometry-driven proteome analyses.
Our main research focus is on applying technologies for qualitative and quantitative analysis of protein expression levels and modifications in health and disease.
Research topics include protein identification from clinical samples for the identification of biomarkers for 1. cervix carcinoma and 2. HIV-resistance of exposed seronegative individuals (ESNs). Intracellular antiviral responses are also studied by measuring the dynamics and expression levels of several intrinsic antiviral proteins such as PML (TRIM19), Trim5? and APOBEC3G.
Job description:
The candidate will supervise and start up a new research line, based on the identification of proteins, secreted by stem cells. For this purpose, he/she will deal with collaborating labs and with industrial partners. An initial contract for 14 months can be offered during which a renewal will be prepared. During this period, he/she will have the aid of a lab technician.
Profile and requirements:
- Senior or junior postdoctoral researcher
- Experience in the field of proteomics and protein technology (protein derivatization, purification, identification by mass spectrometry)
- Strong interest in biochemical and molecular biology methods
- Excellent writing, reporting and communicative skills
- Willing to supervise Ph.D. and master students
We offer:
- an initial contract for 14 months
- Starting date will be February, 1st, 2010 or later.
