Research project description
The DACS group within the Centre for Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT) at the University of Twente is actively involved in a number of projects in the area of Vehicular Networking. Within the context of the Dutch cooperation project SPITS (Strategic Platform for Intelligent Traffic Systems), the DACS group has a vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of geonetworking protocols.
The postdoc will be performing research in geonetworking architectures, protocols, and algorithms for vehicular networks, and their performance. Important issues are multi-hop forwarding/routing, geocasting over heterogeneous link layers, e.g., IEEE 802.11p and 3G/LTE, and interworking with fixed, IPv6-based infrastructure.
The position is predominantly a research position, but includes interaction with Ph.D. and M.Sc. students, and possibilities for participation in teaching and grant application
Requirements
Doctorate
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field, and have a strong research and publication record in the area of wireless and mobile networking.
The position is available starting January 1, 2010, and will end July 1, 2011.

Conditions of employment
Estimated maximum salary per month: eur 4000 – 4500
Salaryscale 10. Duration of the contract: 18 months
Maximum hours per week: 38
Additional conditions of employment:
We offer a full?time position in a dynamic and international environment. The monthly salary ranges from 2379,00 gross to 4374,00 gross – according to the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) for Dutch Universities – depending on qualifications and experience.
