Implementing PAT for successful development of biopharmaceuticals in the UK.(led by GlaxoSmithKline).
This project, funded by the DTI Collaborative R&D Fund until 30 August 2009, involves a consortium led by GSK aiming to develop new efficient methods of speeding the manufacture of these revolutionary therapeutic agents. The research at Strathclyde focuses on the use of spectroscopic methods to monitor mammalian cell culture processes in situ under the direction of Professor Brian McNeil and Dr Linda Harvey. You will be expected to work closely with other consortium members in GSK, Liverpool and Newcastle Universities in the areas of cell culture, data processing, and modeling science. A background in biochemical engineering, industrial microbiology, or chemistry would be appropriate, and practical experience of lab scale mammalian cell culture in bioreactors a significant advantage.
More details of the project, including the abstract can be found on the BioprocessUK website.
