A. Postdoctoral Fellow in the Field of Bioinformatics and Metabolic Network Modeling
The Department of Biology, Ghent University and the Department of Plant Systems Biology, VIB invite applications for a position for a postdoctoral fellow in the field of bioinformatics and metabolic network modeling to be filled from 1 February, 2009.
Applications are sought from candidates with documented experience in bioinformatics, cell biology and genome-scale metabolic networks. He/she will be appointed for a period of four years. We offer a challenging interdisciplinary research project in the emerging field of blue biotechnology, with the aim to develop new tools and strains to improve the understanding of diatom growth and lipid metabolism.

B. PhD Position within the Field of Diatom Physiology
The Department of Biology, Ghent University and the Department of Plant Systems Biology, Flemish Institute for Biotechnology Position invite applications for a PhD position within the field of diatom physiology to be filled from 1 February, 2009.
The position is limited to four years. Applicants should have a degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Bio-engineering, Physiology or Biochemistry. He/she will be appointed for a period of four years. We offer a challenging interdisciplinary research project in the field of diatom physiology, using transcriptomics and metabolomics approaches to understand the mechanisms regulating diatom growth and lipid metabolism.

C. PhD Position in the Field of Diatom Biology & Genetics
The Department of Biology, Ghent University and the Department of Plant Systems Biology, VIB are launching a call for applications to a PhD position in the field of diatom biology & genetics to be filled from 1 February, 2009.
Applicants should have a degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Bio-engineering, Physiology or Biochemistry. He/she will be appointed for a period of four years. We offer a challenging interdisciplinary research project in the field of diatom (reproductive) biology, aimed at the mapping, identification, functional characterization and evolutionary analysis of the gene(s) underlying mating type in diatoms.
